SEA seek part-time Project Coordinator for the ‘Solidarity Economy Organisers Network’
The Solidarity Economy Association (SEA) are looking for an experienced and pro-active community organiser to (co)lead the next phase of our ‘Solidarity Economy Organiser’s Network’ (SEON).

About the role
This position will be on a sub-contractual (self employed) basis for a duration of one year, with a view to continuing and becoming a worker member of the co-operative, according to funding availability. You will be paid £150/day for an average of one day per week, with overtime available according to the needs of the project, as well as the possibility to work on other projects (dependent on funding). Working hours are flexible and can be full days (7.5 hours) or split across multiple days.
The aim of SE-ON is to weave relationships between, and build capacity in, grass-roots solidarity economy groups that are led by members of the communities they serve, at the forefront of systemic oppression and economic marginalisation. We highly encourage applications from people with lived experience of systemic oppressions such as poor working class and racialised backgrounds.
As a Project Coordinator, you will be working closely with one other staff member to develop the project. Our organisation aspires to work democratically with care and support for one another. As part of a small team, you will have a lot of autonomy, so it‘s important that you feel comfortable in that position. You‘ll need to be both self-motivated and collaborative in your approach.
You will work remotely, but will be required to do some occasional travel in England, Scotland and/or Wales for workshops, meetings and residential events. Travel and other expenses will be provided.
Who are Solidarity Economy Association?
SEA are a worker-led cooperative based in England, Scotland and Wales working to overcome capitalism by building up the solidarity economy from below, aiming to build strength and resilience for grassroots and community groups committed to social, ecological and economic justice. We want to help in whatever way it is useful to expand the capacity of those groups, and provide a space to share skills and strategies for collective visions in building a better world.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Admin: Agenda planning, record keeping, and facilitation of monthly network meetings

Communication: Regular check-ins with other worker members and participating groups, responding to requests for support; ensuring each participating group understands the project, its values, and their commitment to it;

Event management: Planning and organising residential meetings between the SEON member groups

Research: finding and reaching out to groups with allied values who may want to join the network

Strategy: collaborative visioning and moving the project forward strategically
QUALIFICATIONS
No formal qualifications are necessary, but we are looking for experienced organisers in grassroots political and/or community groups/associations. We are after someone committed, with the ability to motivate others, mediate conflict and take shared responsibility.

A great communicator – someone who is personable and persuasive who can speak with and relate to people from a range of backgrounds and experiences. As a coordinator, you need to be a good listener and able to work with conflict, if and when itarises;

A strong facilitator – able to hold space across difference and guide a group towards self-organisation and mutual learning;

A visionary – someone who can think creatively about different ways of organising and be ambitious about our collective future
